DocMus: Studying as a supernumerary student
As a supernumerary student, the applicant will be expected to prepare a doctoral study plan and attend the preliminary courses organized by the DocMus Department. Supernumerary students are required to complete courses worth a minimum of six ECTS credits.
Supernumerary students may attend doctoral seminars and lectures at the Sibelius Academy, where they may receive guidance in drawing up their doctoral study plan.
Students are strongly advised to complete the Preliminary Course for the Planning of Studies. Other recommended courses include Doctoral Degree as a Project, Introduction to Scientific Philosophy, Research Methods and Methodology, and Writing Skills.
Students may also apply to attend additional courses (the study right is granted by the department head).
Where applicable, credits from courses taken as a supernumerary student may be counted towards the doctoral degree.
