Applying as a full-time student

To enrol in the actual doctoral programme, students are required to submit an application for the right of study and a doctoral study plan for approval by the Academic Council no later than 24 February 2012. Applications must be send only by electronic mail to: doc-applications(at)siba.fi.

The free-form application and the doctoral study plan should be addressed  to the Academic Council.

In addition, those applying to the doctoral Research Programme are required to enclose the following documents:

  1. Doctoral study plan outlining the basis and objectives of the research project, earlier research related to the project, and the topics and research methods of the project. The recommended length is approx. 10 pages. (Extent of studies is 165 ECTS credits)
  2. General description of the supplementary studies, their extent and subjects, which must be discussed with the relevant professor or supervisor. (Extent of studies is 75 ECTS credits)
  3. Personal details and contact information
  4. Curriculum vitae or equivalent
  5. Description of earlier degrees and studies and other matters that the applicant considers relevant to his/her eligibility for the doctoral programme.

Before submitting the doctoral study plan, students are advised to discuss its content with the relevant professor.

The doctoral study plan must show that the intended studies are in accordance with the objectives set out in the Decree on University Degrees (794/2004).

If there are significant changes to the study plan once it has been approved, the student is required to apply for approval of the changes from the Academic Council, which then will request a statement on the changes from the academic supervisor. Minor changes can be approved by the academic supervisor.
