To enrol in the actual doctoral programme, students are required to submit an application for the right of study and a doctoral study plan for approval by the Academic Council. Applications must be send only by electronic mail to: doc-applications(at)siba.fi. The application must be submitted within one year of having been accepted as a supernumerary student, on 24.2.2012 at the latest.
The free-form application and the doctoral study plan should be addressed to the Academic Council.
Applicants are required to enclose the following documents:
1. Plan for the artistic project (concert plan),
2. Plan for the written work: The subject, objectives and research problem must be outlined in the doctoral study plan.
3. A general description of the content (subjects), extent and schedule of the doctoral studies
In addition, applicants to the DocMus are required to outline how supplementary studies are included in the so-called Study Package of the DocMus.
The content of the studies should be suitable and supportive for the set of topics included in the artistic project. The extent and subjects of the supplementary studies should be outlined in the doctoral study plan.
4. Personal details and contact information
5. Curriculum vitae or equivalent
6. Description of earlier degrees and studies and other matters that the applicant considers relevant to his/her eligibility for the doctoral programme.
Students are advised to discuss the content of the plan with the relevant professor.
Applicants can put forward their own suggestions on the academic supervisors in the plan.
The doctoral study plan must show that the intended studies are in accordance with the objectives set out in the Decree on University Degrees (794/2004).
Once the student has commenced his/her studies, he/she is required to apply for approval of any changes to the study plan from the Academic Council, which will then request a statement on the changes from the preliminary reviewer. Minor changes can be approved by the preliminary reviewer (concerning concert) or the academic supervisor.
