Grants open to teachers and students 2010

Grants from donated or bequeathed funds

Grants are awarded to students and teachers in the Sibelius Academy’s youth, undergraduate or doctoral studies.
 
For applying for the students of the Sibelius Academy:

Foundations: Applicant group:
Viljo and Riitta Laitinen Foundation - for students of piano, cello, violin and clarinet
- working grants for doctoral students
- for covering expenses of doctoral studies
- travel grants for students of Junior Academy
Tauno Pylkkänen Foundation - 1 grant for a wind instrument student
- 1 - 2 grants for opera training students
Selim and Minna Palmgren Foundation - for well-achieving students
Armas Paloheimo Foundation - for talented students of composing
Jorma Hynninen Foundation - for lied singers
Combined foundations - for students
- travel grants for students of Junior Academy

The grants from the donation and trust fund are applied for by filling in the electronic webropol form without specifying the particular foundation the grant is being applied from. The application should enclose the necessary attachments. Please, email possible attachments to apurahat(at)siba.fi. The prerequisite of receiving a grant is an overall advancement of studies. A minimal amount of grants are awarded for instrument and material purchases. In case of missing reports on previous grants, the application is rejected. .

For applying for the teachers of the Sibelius Academy:

Foundations: Applicant group:
Martta Sihvola Foundation - on awarding grants, precedence goes to trips concerning the short term objectives of the departments and development and maintaining of teachers’ proficiency
- foundation may also subsidise international teacher exchange trips
- applicants must state in their application the means of which the described purpose of use will support the objectives of their department

The grants from the donation and trust fund are applied for by filling in the electronic webropol form (without specifying the fund).  Please, email possible attachments to apurahat(at)siba.fi. The decision on awarding the grants is made by the Rector. .

Sibelius Academy Foundation Grants

Grants are awarded to students and teachers in the Sibelius Academy’s youth, undergraduate or doctoral studies.

Foundations: Applicant group:
Oskar and Aurora Honkasalo Foundation - working grants for doctoral studies, may be divided between several recipients
- for covering expenses of doctoral studies
- other grants
- travel grants for students of Junior Academy
Martti Pokela Foundation - for students and teachers of folk music
Jazz-Foundation - grants for talented students and teachers of Jazz music
Laura and Marketta Simes Foundation - for students
Panula Foundation - awarded without application to students of conductor class and orchestral students
Combined foundations - for students

The grants from the Sibelius Academy Foundation are applied for by filling in the electronic webropol form (without specifying the fund).  Please, email possible attachments to apurahat(at)siba.fi. The decision on awarding the grants and their amounts is made by the Board of the Foundation.

Applying time and instructions

The grants from the donation and trust fund and the Sibelius Academy Foundation are applied for by filling in the electronic webropol form (without specifying the fund) between 4th and 29th January, 2010.  Please, email possible attachments to apurahat(at)siba.fi. The application form must state the grant applied for. Filling the form meticulously eases and helps processing the grant application.

In behalf of a workgroup the application is filed by a contact person. The application should enclose an attachment with information on everybody on the group applying for a grant. Workgroup information forms are available in the ecectronic webropol form.

Grants awarded in spring 2010 must be used and a report on using the grant must be filled by the end of May, 2011.

 

Application time ends at 3:00 pm friday, January 29, 2010.

A list of successful applicants will be available at the Sibelius Academy service desks in the end of May 2010 at the latest. The recipients will also be informed by a letter on the grant they are awarded.
