Jazz

Jazz students can major in a jazz instrument or in jazz composition. The programme aims to provide students with a sufficiently high level of knowledge and skills based on the Afro-American music culture to enable them to work in the demanding role of a musician, a conductor, an arranger/composer or a teacher. The degree programme prepares the student for further studies, which, at the Sibelius Academy, may be undertaken at the doctoral degree level. Jazz music can also be studied as a practice pupil or at the Junior Academy, designed for music enthusiasts who are enrolled in primary or secondary school.
